Lane Departure Warning

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety technology designed to alert drivers when their vehicle begins to drift out of a marked lane without the use of indicators, or strays from its intended travel lane. By providing timely warnings, LDW helps prevent unintended lane departures, which are a common cause of collisions on highways and busy roads.

LDW is part of the second wave of active safety systems, which combine advanced sensors, radar, cameras, GPS and laser technology to enhance vehicle safety. These systems continuously monitor both the vehicle’s performance and its surrounding environment, assessing potential hazards in real time. When a risk is detected, LDW issues alerts through visual, audible or haptic signals, prompting the driver to correct the vehicle’s position and maintain safe lane discipline.
