The Department for Transport has today published its response to the Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy safety review call for evidence, aimed at improving road safety for vulnerable road users including cyclists and pedestrians.

The measures are designed to combat road rage and encourage greater mutual respect between road users. You can read the strategy here.

DVSA to educate road users

DVSA is supporting the strategy and will soon be awarding a new Publishing Concession that has been designed to:

  • research and highlight the best means to educate road users
  • influence behaviour change in current road users and the next generation of drivers

Highway Code Review

The government has also announced that it will review guidance in the Highway Code on how road users should behave in relation to cyclists and pedestrians, as well as other vulnerable road users. You can read the announcement here.
